DVMEGA Cast FW update V1.29

New firmware V 1.29 is available now.

This is the first step to the call drop and disconnect reflector / talkgroup / room on demand. Read the release note before you start to update.

Again this is a first step in the disconnect on demand project. Along the way i discovered that almost no system is made to disconnect during a conversation. Before i continue, i will list all known systems and if necessary consult the designers to see what the best options are for this function. It is a fact that IP radio is being used more and more and that there may be more attention for this function.

Update week 19

As indicated last week, the start of the call drop has been made.

The implementation is ready for D-Star.

It is a lot more complicated for DMR. At this point, the link will not be broken until the end of the pass. It is possible to do this immediately, but that require intervention on the host. I am working on this now.

There is no solution for Fusion yet, again we are thinking very hard about this at the moment.

In general the call drop function can be activated via a key on the MIC. This is currently chosen because you do not have to update the display.

Furthermore, the display continues to start when you activate the Hotspot mode.

These modification will be released next Monday in Version 1.29. Further DMR call drop possibilities, reflector / talkgroup / room preset memory and dimmable display is planned for Version 1.30.

Firmware update.

Hereby an update regarding the implementation of call drop and reflector disconnect on demand. It was an obvious solution for D-Star. The host accepts an unlink command while a QSO is in progress. This is the solution for D-Star. For DMR it is a bit more complicated. With DMR it is simply impossible to disconnect a talk group or reflector during a QSO. At the moment, a solution has been chosen in which the reflector or talk group is automatically disconnected at the end of the passage. There is no solution for Fusion yet, we will think about that. Operation is simple by pressing P2 (on the MIC) the moment you want to disconnect.

An update has also been made to the image. It is now possible to expand the file system (SD Card) to maximum size via the FW Update page. You can already activate this function by doing an update via the dashboard.

Then there is another comment that I do not want to leave unmentioned. Since we have started using the new update server, it is possible to download an update several times in a row. With a Windows PC, as an example, the filename will be extended with (1) or (2) depending on how often you downloaded the file. The moment you want to upload a file with the (*) extension to your DVMEGA Cast that will not work. In this case you need to remove the (*) addition from the file name.

Cancellation Landelijke Radio Vlooienmarkt Rosmalen 2020.

I recently received the following message, the content needs no further explanation :

The progress of the the Corona virus out brake forces us to cancel the Radio Flea Market from 2020 March 21st. Even with extra precautions it is no longer possible to guarantee the safety of helpers, exhibitor and visitors. Shifting the date was no option without interfering with other events. Via email we will contact participating exhibitors on the follow up steps we will take.
